Treatment

  1. Ensure patient, operator and any observers are wearing the THOR approved laser safety eyewear and that the precautions on have been observed.

  2. Set the treatment time to 30 seconds. This is the recommended treatment time for each treatment point when treating pain associated with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS).

  3. To commence treatment, momentarily depress the switch on the laser treatment head. The laser treatment head will come on for the 30 seconds and then switch off automatically.

  4. There is an audible bleeping when the laser treatment head is on.

  5. To stop treatment before the set time has elapsed, depress and release the laser treatment head switch, the laser treatment head will switch off and the timer will re-set.

Treatment Procedure:

  1. Place the laser treatment head in firm contact with the anterior aspect of the affected wrist (1) and commence treatment by momentarily depressing the switch on the laser treatment head.

  2. The laser treatment head will come on for the 30 seconds and then switch off automatically. 

  3. Rotate the laser treatment head ~ 60 degree on the same treatment site and reactivate the laser treatment head. 

  4. Repeat for a total of 3 duty cycles. 

  5. Reposition the laser treatment head to treatment site (2) and repeat the process for 3 duty cycles. Repeat the same procedure for treatment sites (3) and (4) as illustrated by red circles below.

Treatment Frequency and Duration:

Dosage per Treatment Site 9 Joules (3 Joules/cycle x 3 cycles)
Number of Treatment Sites 3 - 4 in wrist and palm area (see illustration above)
Treatment Frequency 3 times weekly
Treatment Duration 5 weeks
